ASEH received Gold Award for SDG 13 Climate Action Sustainability Initiative

October 13, 2021

In 2021, the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) organized the 1st Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards (TSAA) to recognize exceptional achievements and contributions to the UN SDGs in Taiwan. ASEH was recognized for its low-carbon transformation to achieve net-zero emissions, and accorded the Gold award under the SDG 13 Climate Action Sustainability Initiative.

The TSAA program recognizes a select list of Taiwanese companies that have taken proactive actions to fulfill UN SDGs and demonstrates Taiwan’s sustainability commitment to the global community. Among the 225 entries submitted by 138 organizations, 190 sustainability initiatives were selected for recognition (53 Gold awards, 64 Silver awards, and 73 Bronze awards).

Climate change and managing energy resources have brought about complex challenges as well as opportunities for ASEH. Climate change impacts the company from various angles including major changes resulting from government policies, new technology R&D, low-carbon market demands, as well as extreme weather events. To that end, we have adopted CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) and TCFD (Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures) standards, and conducted annual risk assessments at our facilities. Our systematic framework helps to improve our business model and enable us to play a positive role in the supply chain.

ASEH is also actively developing clean energy solutions. The company became the first semiconductor company in Taiwan to pass the review of its science-based targets by SBTi (Science Based Targets Initiative) in June of 2021. As a company committed to the reduction of carbon emissions in Taiwan, ASEH founded the Taiwan Alliance for Net Zero Emissions with TAISE and 13 other companies. The Net Zero X 2030/2050 Initiative aims to promote the sharing of technologies and knowledge within the industry towards sustainable development.

Climate change is driving the pace of transition to a low-carbon and circular economy. Only companies that strive for environmental sustainability and green manufacturing can secure a leading position in this competitive market. ASEH is well positioned to capture opportunities arising from climate challenges by offering our low-carbon solutions to the global market to mitigate climate impact.
